and finally . . .

October 14, 2013

20131014-154845.jpgHere, finally, is the birthday present for the Super Stitcher. Yes, it is being modelled very inappropriately by Bob the Beaver, and yes you wouldn’t have to be particularly eagle eyed to notice that is is the same yarn (Zip) but a different colour way to the original. It is a staggeringly straightforward pattern, but somehow I managed to mess up and I finished with such a tangle that I just couldn’t face reusing it. You wouldn’t think it, given my trials and tribulations, but actually the yarn is pretty easy to knit with, as long as you don’t accidentally stick the needle through it. The issue is when you have to pull apart any tangles, as it’s really hard to see what belongs where, and the pretty little squares tend to come apart. Still, if you can get away with knitting it just once (and any normally adequate person could) then it’s a nice quick little project.

Lovely, just how big is Bob the Beaver (Super Stitcher sized?!) I was thinking of you this weekend as I started (without finishing) needle felting a small mermaid for my friend who is 5 years old today. There is a small chance I may finish yet it on her birthday…but don’t hold your breath!

So was it the needle felting or the starting and not finishing that made you think of me?

Bob the Beaver is somewhat smaller than the Super Stitcher, but on the other hand, he is wearing it quite loosely! And actually, looking at the picture again, his neck isn’t particularly slim.
