lovely things

February 17, 2012

On the useful and beautiful front, I splashed out today at Purl City on some more lovely Knitpro knitting needles. With my current hat knitting enthusiasm, I had bought some double ended pins at Abakhan on Saturday. Now Abakhan is great and always a thrifty place to shop, but I knew at the time that I would regret it: I’d hoped they’d have some bamboo dpns, but there were only nasty grey metal ones, which I bought in a burst of frugality. So today, when I was back in Manchester I ended up making good my error and buying the lovely ones instead. I’ve ended up spending more, so much for thrift, but the difference in the experience is immense. The new needles are light and beautiful and a pleasure to handle. They cost three times as much but they are more than three times lovelier.
