boxed in

February 5, 2012

I’m sure it will come as no surprise to hear that things didn’t go entirely according to plan. I returned home full of basket-making enthusiasm and all set to go back for the second workshop at Up Country today to get to grips with slightly more complicated shapes, I’d even recruited Super Girl to come along too, but the weather had other plans. It snowed with enthusiasm yesterday, and the Isle of Skye road between Saddleworth and Holmfirth was closed. I’m hoping we’ll be able to recruit a couple of friends and persuade Liz the friendly basket maker to run another workshop for us some time.

The Pictlets are somewhat despondent that the snow isn’t sufficiently heavy for school to be closed tomorrow, but on the bright side they have had a good time in the sledging field over the lane, and making a snow fort in the garden. I have also embarked upon a new knitting pattern, Super Girl is knitting her bear a scarf and even Boy Wonder has taken up the needles again, to do a bit more of a washcloth that he was originally going to give me for Christmas 2010 – what can I say? he’s his mother’s son!
