hello birds, hello trees!

March 21, 2011

It was a typically miserable morning to start with, grey and overcast, but by this afternoon we were enjoying weather of an entirely different character. A bright spring day unfolded, green buds are bursting on the hawthorn hedge beside the lane, and there’s a faint fuzz of green along the branches of the larch in our neighbours’ garden.

The bushes and climbers are full of a great deal of fluttering and twittering and in the last few days the garden feeders have been visited by blackbirds, bluetits, great tits, a coal tit, a magpie, a robin, greenfinches and (my favourite) three very pretty little long-tailed tits who I think might be nesting in the hedge down by the vegetable patch. Spring is definitely in the process of springing  8o)
