The Saddleworth Equation

July 20, 2010

. . . has been called into play today. Extensive laundering is being called for at the moment to get clothes ready for the holidays, and the weather is not co-operating, hence the Saddleworth equation, whereby complicated calculations regarding the degree to which the showers/drizzle will wet the washing as opposed to how well the prevailing wind will dry it, are called into play.  Quantum physics has nothing on this.

Two good things and a bad thing today: Boy Wonder’s school has finished for the holidays (Super Girl finished last Friday) and lots of ironing done (the done-ness is good – the doing wasn’t really).  The bad thing? I got the equation wrong and the damp towels are still hanging out there limply to prove it.
