necessary plants

January 25, 2009

now I have to admit that this is pretty vague, but years ago, when I was studying mediaeval history, I remember reading that King Alfred (who seems to have been a great one for advice) recommended that Yarrow or achillea was one of the plants that should be in every garden, and now that I’m taking a look around our little front garden and thinking what to plant, I would like to be able to follow Alfred the Great’s advice, but I can’t seem to find his other recommendations anywhere.  Any ideas?
